Nel weekend mie amiche italiane, Alba, Oriella e Silvana, sono venute a londra per una breve visita. Sono arrivate venerdì sera e sono partite domenica mattina. Nelle visite precedenti avevano visto i posti più importanti ma questa volta volevano visitare le parte di londra meno turistiche. Perciò hanno prenotato un appartamento vicino alla stazione di Liverpool Street e sabato mattina presto hanno visitato il mercato di Spitalfields, poi il mercato di Borough e nel pomeriggio RopeWalk. Conosco I mercati di Spitalfields e Borough ma non avevo mai sentito parlare di RopeWalk. Si trova in una strada vicino al mercato di Maltby Street a sud-est di londra, non troppo lontano dal Tower Bridge. Questo vivace mercatoe è una combinazione di bancarelle, bars e negozi disposti sotto le arcate della ferrovia. È aperto il sabato e la domenica. Le miei amiche hanno passato tutto il giorno nei mercati ma hanno fatto anche un’altra cosa interessante. Per arrivare al mercato di Borough dal mercato di Spitalfields Mercato si deve attraversare il tamigi . Hanno percorso il Tower Bridge visto che ora infatti è possibile attraversar il Tamigi usando la passarella sopraelevata fatto da vetro, che si trova 42 metri sopra il livello del fiume. Quando più tardi ci siamo incontrati per cenare hanno detto che è stata una giornata incredibile.
Tower Bridge
At the weekend my Italian friends, Alba, Oriella and Silvana came to London for a flying visit. They arrived Friday evening and left Sunday morning. On other visits they had seen the most important places and they time they wanted to visit some less touristy places. So they had booked an apartment near Liverpool Street Stazion and on Saturday morning they visited Spitalfields Market, then Borough Market and in the afternoon RopeWalk. I know Spitalfields Market and Borough Market but I had never heard of RopeWalk. In fact it is a street near Maltby Street Market in the south-east of London, not too far from Tower Bridge. This lively market is a combination of market stalls, bars and shops under the railway arches. It is open Saturday and Sunday. My friends spent all day at the markets but they also did one other interesting thing. To get to Borough Market from Spitalfields Market you have to cross the Thames. They used Tower Bridge and it is now possible to cross using a glass walkway which is 42 metre above the river. When we met for dinner later they said that it had been an incredible day.
